    Visual Part

After testing Evolution Gaming’s Power Blackjack, released in 2020, we quickly realised that the traditional rules that usually govern blackjack don’t apply here, but more on that later.

Visually, Evolution Power Blackjack looks appealing thanks to a large studio with a bright blue and gold design. The game’s audio is noticeably clear, without any annoying or repetitive background soundtracks.

Power Blackjack takes a more aggressive approach than Infinite Blackjack and Lightning Blackjack. It puts you in control of the higher stakes, rather than relying on shared gameplay or random additions.

    Key Game Elements

Power Blackjack gives you far more control over your bets than any other table game, where your betting options are limited to what is offered. You can also multiply your bet up to 4 times on your starting cards. And the card placement brings the atmosphere of a lively casino directly to your screen, without waiting for a seat.

    Gameplay

The table rules below cover how Power Blackjack runs from the first bet to the final payout.

During testing, I found the control panel to be extremely responsive. The digital overlay menu updates instantly, keeping up with the live dealer. The wide betting range from £1 to £5,000 is logically laid out. Because you can easily manage your bankroll at low stakes, it’s also easy to adapt to the game if you’re a high roller looking to maximise 4x multipliers.

    Bet Types

Beyond the main hand, this casino game supports four side bets, all placed within the same 12-second betting window:

    • Hot 3: Your two cards plus the dealer’s up card total 19, 20, 21, or land as three sevens
    • 21+3: Your two cards plus the dealer’s up card form a three-card poker hand (flush, straight, three of a kind, etc.)
    • Any Pair: Your first two cards form a pair, suited or unsuited
    • Bust It: The dealer goes bust. The more cards it takes, the higher the payout.

I appreciate that Bust It introduces a different element into dealer busts. However, I believe the side bets would be better if the payouts weren’t dragged down by the lower return percentages compared to the main game.

    Features

It’s time to talk about the main features.

The main feature of this live casino game is that it allows you to activate Power Double, Triple, or Quadruple Down. While at standard tables you can double your initial bet only after receiving the first two cards, here you can multiply it by 2, 3, or 4. You can even activate these huge multipliers after you split your pair according to the game rules.

The deck is by far the biggest alteration to the game. With the removal of every 9 and 10 card, you change the mathematics of the game completely. There is now less risk to the dealer in terms of control slipping from their hands. To avoid overbetting, set a realistic win goal. This keeps you in control and makes drawing cards much less stressful.

I am a massive fan of the 4x modifier on split hands, as it completely tilts the power balance back toward the player whenever the dealer reveals a weak upcard like a 5 or 6.

The next part of our Power Blackjack review covers how the table performed during actual tests after the rules were explained.

    Real Feedback

Our expert sat at the Power Blackjack table by Evolution Gaming and played for real money. The notes below reflect what that showed.

When I first tested out this table, it was baffling seeing no 9s and 10s at all. Taking a hard 16 felt like a huge mistake; however, with the absence of those higher cards, it turned out to be a profitable situation. My highest payoff on this table was splitting a pair of 5s against a dealer’s 6 and doubling down four times on both hands. However, this table demands significant discipline, and chasing the 4x multiplication on bad hands during a downturn will result in the depletion of your funds within minutes.

    Our Verdict

We would place Power Blackjack online closer to an advanced live blackjack table than a casual one. You still get familiar rules, a 3:2 blackjack payout, and unlimited seats, but the removed 9s and 10s change the maths behind every hit, stand, and Power Double. The 2x–4x multiplier can work well when you know the correct spots, yet it can drain your balance quickly if you chase weak hands. We would recommend this table if you already understand blackjack strategy and want more control over stake pressure. For calmer play, standard Evolution blackjack will suit you better.

Power Blackjack’s practical pros and cons are the following:

    • Pros
    • Automatic dealer peek feature
    • Bet multiplier options (double, triple, or quadruple)
    • Choice of four distinct side bets
    • Cons
    • Strict 12-second betting window
    • Failure of standard blackjack strategy
