Play the Gemix Demo
By Play'n GO
Gemix was launched by Play’n Go in 2014 and is still important today. In this article, we have described the game mechanics and features available in Gemix. In addition, on this page, you will find out where you can play Gemix in demo mode or for real money through safe sites licensed in the UK.
Basic info
First Glance
Gemix is a slot from the Play’n Go provider released in December 2014. As for the theme, it successfully combines fairy tales with a puzzle with gems. Each symbol controls its own little corner of a colourful underworld. In practice, it looks better than most slots released that year.
The visual part here is pleasing to the eye. The graphics are pastel and clean – no bright flickering or visual noise. The gemstone symbols are clear and readable, even when clusters explode quickly. The background music is soft; it does not get boring during long games.
Compared to Gemix 2 and Gemix 100, this online slot is a quieter option with less pressure. Less volatility, less spectacle – but also less stress.
Rules, Symbols, and Bonuses
The Gemix slot takes an alternate approach through not only its cluster payout system but also its many levels of progression. It is complemented by a variety of features that help to provide movement through the game grid. The four fundamental shapes or symbols are created from the eight different jewels, making it easier for you to receive some type of payout in the beginning stages of using Gemix.
Symbols
The Gemix game consists of eight gemstones and two sets of paytable symbols. Plus three wild symbols, and does not include any scatter symbols.
Here are the available symbols:
- Low-value symbols: Blue Rectangle, Turquoise Triangle, Purple Square, Green Pentagon.
- High-value symbols: Orange Flower, Pink Moon, Red Heart, Gold Star.
- Special symbols: Miner’s Lantern Wild (World 1), Princess’s Lollipop Wild (World 2), Wizard’s Spellbook Wild (World 3).
I find the pay structure to be quite balanced. My strategy is to watch how often the low symbols form small clusters, while treating the star and heart as the main value symbols. They boost the paytable enough without making the base game feel empty.

Bonus Features
Now, let’s talk about what drives the wins in the Gemix slot game.
The three Wild symbols each belong to a specific World. The Miner’s Lantern (World 1) drops up to 10 random Wilds across the grid. The Princess’s Lollipop (World 2) spreads from a grid edge across adjacent tiles until it hits another edge. The Wizard’s Spellbook (World 3) adds up to 8 sticky wilds that lock in place through every cascade on that spin, the most valuable of the three.
The Crystal Charge meter fills as gems are cleared. Clear 20 or more gems in one spin, and it fires one of four random modifiers: Nova Blast converts gems around a random point; Crystal Warp converts all instances of one gem type into another; Light Beam converts everything along a gem’s row and column. Chain Lightning connects two corner gems and converts every gem along the arc.
Clear 40 gems in one spin and the meter upgrades to Super Charge, adding a 3× multiplier to all wins that follow. It can only trigger once per spin.
There are no free spins in Gemix. The Crystal Charge fires often enough at medium volatility that its absence is not felt. The World Bonus paid on clearing all three levels of a World adds a separate return on top of regular wins.
Below is the full pay table for Gemix, including the max win potential per symbol.

Gemix Pay Table
With the pay table clear, how to play Gemix comes down to cluster size, stake setting, and getting the Crystal Charge to fire.
Gameplay Guide
Gemix’s format more closely resembles a puzzle game than a typical slot machine. You’ll see a grid of 7 columns and 7 rows of colourful jewels, surrounded by a real-time win tracker on the left and an information panel on the right showing World Bonus, level progress, and Crystal Charge status.
Gemix allows you to wager anywhere from £0.10 to £100 per spin. You can set your total wager in the control panel under the grid. You can view the paytable and your active RTP in the information menu. Under current UKGC rules, autoplay is disabled at all licensed online slot sites in the UK.
Gemix has an RTP range of 84.90%-96.83% (depending on the online casino), medium volatility, and a max win of 4,513x your stake.
I thought the controls were clean and responsive. I’d encourage you to check out the RTP on the information panel before you start playing. Depending on which casino version of Gemix you are using, RTP coefficients can be very different.

Real Feedback
Our expert found that Gemix puts most of its value in cascade chains and Crystal Charge triggers rather than individual cluster wins. Here, he shares real feedback on gameplay and slot bonuses from a short test.
It was amazing to see the speed of the Cascade while they spun, creating chains that will last longer than you think. Each time you cast Crystal Charge, you will cause a new Chain Lightning effect for each instance you create from a full circle into a cluster of value. Most impressive of all was the Wizard’s Spellbook from Wild World; you can see how this is an extremely useful feature.

Our Verdict
It’s not without reason that we rate Gemix as one of the most reliable games from Play’n GO. Over a decade after its release, the World Progression system still gives sessions a sense of purpose. This is something that most cluster slots lack. If you are chasing big single-spin returns, the maths model here is too measured for that. If you want to play Gemix for a relaxed, pattern-based session with real replay value, this game delivers it consistently.
Strengths and weaknesses at a glance:
- Pros:
- Behavioural wild variety
- Structured world progression
- Frequent feature triggers
- Cons:
- No free spins round
- Sluggish bonus accumulation
