Battle of the Supermen: Who’s the Hottest Man of Steel
When it comes to capes, curls, and Kryptonite, not all Supermen are created equal in the eyes of fans. For several decades, audiences have seen different actors taking on the iconic role of Superman — from Christopher Reeve’s classic portrayal to David Corenswet’s upcoming debut in Superman (2025). But who really takes the crown as the hottest Man of Steel?
To find out, Gamblizard surveyed 2000 fans, both men and women, to weigh in on their favorite Superman actors and their leading ladies.
The Cavill Effect: Flying High in Every Universe
Since his 2013 debut in Man of Steel, Henry Cavill has redefined Superman as both brooding and blisteringly hot. While women lead the fandom crush at 57%, nearly half of the men (49%) agree — Cavill reigns supreme. The British actor’s combination of classical good looks, intense energy, and that signature curl has clearly won the battle for fan hearts.
No wonder many are unhappy about the change, with David Corenswet set to replace Cavill in the new film. Early impressions are lukewarm: only 7% of women and 15% of men say he’s hotter than Cavill. Surprisingly, even the earlier Supermen still manage to outshine him.
Christopher Reeve, the original Superman of the ‘70s and ‘80s, still commands respect among men: 1 in 4 name him the hottest, perhaps proving that nostalgia can carry you so far.
Brandon Routh’s 2006 revival is the hottest pick for one in five women, though. He may not have reinvented the character, but his gentle smile and old-Hollywood charm still strike a chord.
Lois Lane Through the Ages: Who’s the Ultimate Leading Lady?
It’s not just Superman under the spotlight — Lois Lane’s hottest portrayals are also up for debate. But this time, men and women are torn.
43% of women named Rachel Brosnahan, the next Lois, as the most attractive. Perhaps, she bought their hearts in “The Marvelous Miss Maisel”.
Men, however, are sticking with the past: 45% pick Amy Adams as their top Lois. Older portrayals — Margot Kidder (8% women, 3% men) and Kate Bosworth (10% women, 2% men) — have all but faded from memory.
With Superman’s return hitting screens soon, we’ll see if the next Man of Steel can rise to iconic status and steal hearts along the way.
