Jon Young has spent most of his career writing and editing gambling content for both major magazines and online websites. He has produced high-quality material on everything from blackjack and baccarat to poker, plinko, and prop bets – and everything in between.
Education
Raised on the not-so-mean streets of Buckinghamshire in England, Jon pursued journalism following a degree in art history and film. However, his fondness for poker and sports betting meant he would never fulfil a long-held desire to enter teaching.
Career Path
The teaching profession’s loss was the gambling industry’s gain, as early sports betting and poker blogs for Punters Lounge and Gutshot gained the attention of several publications. He was offered the editor’s role for the fledgling Gambling.com Magazine, covering game strategy, casino reviews, and celebrity interviews.
This led to head-hunted roles as editor of, first, Flush Magazine, then World Poker Tour Magazine, where he built up the title into the UK’s biggest-selling poker publication. His poker magazine CV was completed with a stint as editor of the relaunched Bluff Europe.
Following a move to work at home and spend more time with his family, Jon discovered a new world of online content, producing SEO content for major affiliates and gambling sites, including Casino.org, Gambling.com, VegasSlotsOnline, and Punters Lounge.
Jon’s breadth of knowledge – across casino, sports, and poker, coupled with an eye for detail – has led to his author biography becoming one of the most visible in the gambling industry.
Professional Achievements
A quick count reveals Jon has written or edited over 20,000 articles in his time as a magazine writer and editor, and online content producer. He has been the casino editor for several online gaming sites, including TopJackpot.co.uk, PuntersLounge.com, and ReadWrite.com, honing briefs, recruiting top writers, and ensuring an incredible level of detail at all times.
Amid the writing, Jon still finds time for the odd game of poker, preferring the clack of chips at his local casino. He has won several tournaments, including his ultimate claim to fame, a place in the Guinness World Records for winning the biggest game of Strip Poker ever held.
